I'm in San Francisco visiting Jen. I really dig the neighborhood here. I got here about 3 in the afternoon yesterday. Checked out a used bookstore where they had an awesome selection of sci fi and detective noir books, a record section with the Ramones entire back catalog, and a DVD section where I picked up Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Pineapple Express. After that Jen and I just walked around the neighborhood more then went out to eat at a southern BBQ place. It ruled a lot and the cashier was hitting on me. Now I'm just laying around while Jen is work. Gonna take another walk soon and check out Haight Ashbury by myself. Amoeba Records is there, God only knows how long I'll be and what I'll come back with. Going to 924 Gilman St. tonight to see Kepi Ghoulie's Band, Pansy Division and a secret headliner who I hope is awesome too. Not sure the exact itinerary for tomorrow and the next day, but checking out Japantown, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, the Exploratorium and Golden Gate Bridge. It's pretty awesome here so far, and I might have to up and move here.

    Hey there, cowboys!

The Gobbler. The best thing about Thanksgiving and I didn't even have to go to my parents' house for it.

Speaking of my parents, how do I explain to them that I buy every stupid little thing that pops in my head myself, so the only things I want for Christmas are disgustingly expensive and out of their price range? I get that they will buy me something anyway, but why not listen when I say I want socks and underwear?

I've had the end part of "In Pursuit" by The Vindictives stuck in my head for the better part of a month. I even listened to the entire 45 minute loop track of it and it didn't get it out of my head. "See you later, alligator."

3 New Things For Me That You Should Check Out

    1. The movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. surprisingly hilarious.

    2. The band Jammy Dodgers. I only found those few tracks from them, but it has the dude from Ghost Mice in it and they sound like a thrashier version of Operation: Cliff Clavin and I mean that in the best way possible.

    3. Wells Banana Bread Beer. Do you like beer? Do you like banana bread? You'll like this.

I want to grow a beard kind of, but that week where it's just me looking scruffy is an insurmountable challenge. I can't stand the way it looks. I MUST shave.

I've been listening to Schlong, Sockeye and Sloppy Seconds almost exclusively the past week or so. I love alliteration with my juvenile, sloppy, pop punk. I am a full grown adult.

I've been recording music. Not sure what's going to come of it, but I have a 10 song EP planned so far. The first half is really awful lo fi Daniel Johnston/Joe Jack Talcum sounding. I might have to recruit other people who can actually play instruments for the second half.

I have to start worrying about Christmas shopping. This severely cuts into my strict routine of eating Chinese food every day and spending all my money on sneakers, 7"s and crime novels.

Speaking of novels, I am endlessly writing and editing this one story that's a good 12 chapters. It has the mafia, aliens and mental hospitals in it. You sold on it yet? 3 rejection letters and counting.

George RR Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice series is going to be made into an HBO series? according to what I've read, each book will be a season on the show. AWESOME.

Slightly late, but Halloween picture of my roommate Jason and me under the cut.

Following the pattern of every election I've been able to vote in since becoming an adult in the eyes of the state, This morning I grabbed a giant handful of write-in ballots and proceeded to fill my own name in for each and every single office. Moran 2008.

This year I get a parade for the Phils winning the World Series AND a party here at the Swank Palace for Halloween! Best Halloween ever. Leaving in about an hour to start drinking outside with thousands of other sports fans, come back home for a powernap, then kick things off into full gear for the party.

    Things of note:

Many of the jewelry stores (I live on Jeweler's Row.) will be closed because the insurance companies refuse to insure the front windows from theft today, as it is just plain expected that there will be looting due to the parade.

Jason and I are going to be Raggedy Anne and Andy for Halloween. Aly is Pippi Longstocking.

JFK will be wearing a Star Trek uniform.

Today is my pay day. I did not get paid because of 'the banking crisis'. We 'should' be getting paid tomorrow.

    I fucking hope so.

Sweet Jesus, it's been a hell of a vacation.

I've mostly been drinking about 2 bottles of wine per day and dirtying up my apartment. I did get a bunch of work on So Sue Me done and definitely will be done by weeks end. I beat Hawaii level 5 for Road Rash 2, but haven't done much other video gaming. Jason got a couple guitar tracks down for our new band The Riff Raff Girls and I did some keyboard for it. Really fast pop punk that tops out at 45 seconds. so think Charles Bronson meets Screeching Weasel and you're in the ballpark.

I hurt my foot at Bouncing Souls, but going to a show drunk for the first time in years was a lot of fun. I pretended I was 15 again, stayed in the pit and was stagediving. Probably not for the best because I was sore for 2 days, scraped up my arm, and hurt my foot bad enough that I couldn't walk on it for 2 days. It's not broken, but I did have to pay a lot of money to find that out. Good thing I have insurance, right?

Getting a tattoo started today. It's a customized Our Lady of Guadalupe Tami drew up and it looks great.

Go download the new free Michael Moore movie.

My roommate Jason and I took this whole week off work. Things I hope to accomplish.

    1. Finish the next issue of So Sue Me.
    2. Grow a beard longer than Jason can grow hair on his head.
    3. Write an album.
    4. Kill a keg.
    5. Make it to the playoffs in NHL 94 as the Whalers, beat Earthbound, beat Mario 3 all in one go with no whistles, beat level 5 Hawaii for Road Rash 2 without falling off my bike once.
    6. Finish up the last George RR Martin book I have in the Fire and Ice series and pray he doesn't kick it before finishing the series.
    7. Make it to family dinner tonight, the mountains to see baby Madelynne (anyone wanna drive me?), The Bouncing Souls show, Yaeger's new band The Doomsdayers show, Star Fucking Hipsters show, and go to the new Sonic in the wilds of northeast Philly.
    8. Pull a Cometbus and listen to all my 7"s in one go (maybe during some vicious video game sessions).
    9. Leave my apartment at least once a day and just enjoy the fact that it might even go under 70 degrees.
    10. Be excellent.

Remember that time I got drunk and destroyed some of my furniture? That was last night. Haven't done anything like that in a few years. Drinking again is interesting.

    CONTEST!

At the end of this month, my roommate Jason and I are taking a week vacation. We're having a contest. We're going to see who can grow their hair quicker. Jason's smoothyly shaved head or my baby bottom smooth face. Can he grow his hair faster than I can grow a beard? Taking bets now!
